Services
During your dental check-up, Dr. Savoie will check for signs of tooth decay (caries), cracks, and white, brown or black spots. She will also assess the condition of your old fillings and offer you different options in restorative materials.
Would you like to improve the look of your teeth and smile? Whether you want to change the color, shape, angle or exact location of your teeth, we can discuss different options during your check-up.
If a tooth decay is not restored, it can keep on digging and cause pain and/or infection which can in turn result in the loss of your tooth.
A porcelain restoration is a fake tooth that covers a damaged or decayed tooth. It restores the tooth and protects against further damage. Porcelain restorations can also be used to cover discolored or distorted teeth. The look and functionality of a porcelain-covered tooth is very similar to those of a natural tooth.
The main objective of endodontics (root canal) is to treat the inflammation and infection of your tooth’s canal. After the treatment, the tooth must be restored in order to give it back its original functionality and appearance.
Do you suffer from serious headaches, aches and pain to the jaw or neck, dizziness, bruxism (teeth grinding), tinnitus (sound in your ears) or unexplained dental pains? Did you know that all these symptoms may be related to your muscles or occlusion (bite)? You may be interested to know that we can determine where your occlusion should be to allow your muscles and TJM to be in the most relaxed position possible and to ensure a balance between your occlusion, your muscles and your TJM. Here are some of the tools we use to relieve symptoms and treat our patients:
-
- BioEMG Ш: The EMG is used to measure the activity of skeletal muscles. This information is very important to ensure optimal results and to match the dentistry to the patient’s physiology.
- JT-3D: The JT-3D allows for a more precise exam of the kinesiology mandibular movement. It helps the clinician analyze the jaw’s movement in a dynamic way. The appropriate procedures include the following: chewing, elocution, scope of the movement and swallowing. The analysis of the configuration allows for a more accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
- M-SCAN: The M-SCAN is specifically designed to register the craniofacial muscular activity (at rest and in response). We can quickly and easily compare bilateral muscles to ensure functional symmetry. It may also be used as a training tool to illustrate the importance and effectiveness of your dental aids.
- MicroTENS: The TENS, which uses low-frequencies electrical pulsating batteries, stimulates and relaxes the muscles in your face and neck which helps adopt an optimal and natural jaw position.
With this data, we can offer different treatment options such as orthotic appliances to adjust your occlusion or dental restorations which will help you achieve an appropriate and comfortable physiological position.
Do you or members of your family practice sports? Protect your smile with a mouth protector.
The color of your natural teeth change as you age and when you use tobacco or consume certain foods and drinks. We can offer you an oral appliance in which you add a whitening gel for a predetermined amount of time.
Are you or your kids nose breathers? If not, is it because of a respiratory tract obstruction? Did you know that it is very important to breathe through the nose in order to benefit from an optimal craniofacial development?
Today’s generation is becoming more and more aware of sleeping and breathing disorders. Snoring can be more than a nightly annoyance since it could be caused by sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea happens when you stop breathing while you are sleeping. This can happen hundreds of times every night and up to 2 minutes at a time. When your body realizes that it can die because of a lack of oxygen, a defense mechanism is launched, you gasp and you wake up, sometimes without even realizing it.
If you have one or more of the following symptoms, please discuss about sleep apnea and snoring tests with Dr. Savoie or your hygienist.
- Severe or excessive daytime drowsiness
- Headaches in the morning
- Dry mouth and/or irritated throat in the morning
- Loud or frequent snoring
- Not feeling refreshed after sleeping
- High pressure that is difficult to control with medication
- Memory and/or concentration problems
As part of your health care exam, we will review your medication and dietary supplement intake since they can affect the health of your mouth and of its soft and hard tissues. They can also affect other body systems as well as your sleep patterns, appetite and daily well-being.
Furthermore, during your full exam, we will check your teeth, the muscles of your face and of your neck, and your gums. We will also proceed with a preventative exam for intra/extra-oral cancer and we will examine your TMJ (joint), the muscles attached to your jaw and skull, your occlusion (alignment of your teeth when they close) and the condition of your fillings. We will also take a series of digital x-rays. Thanks to all this data, we will be able to prepare a personalized treatment plan that will meet your needs.
TECHNOLOGIES
We use digital radiography in order to get a better diagnosis of your oral health. Here are a few of the advantages associated with this technology:
- 90% reduction of radiation exposure in comparison with traditional radiography
- Instant images.
- Elimination of toxic solutions associated with traditional radiography development and decrease of our environmental impact
PANOREX
Panoramic x-rays allow us to see all of your teeth on a single image. They also help us check the growth and positioning of your wisdom teeth, and detect cysts and certain types of tumors. They also allow us to see other areas of your face:
- Maxilla
- Mandible
- Sinus and temporo-mandibular joint
Our intra-oral camera is a tool that helps get a more accurate diagnosis. The images help Dr. Savoie see certain details and defects that would be difficult to see with the naked eye. It offers a magnification of 40 to 60 times the actual size which helps the patient understand and visualize his or her oral health.
Velscope helps identify and diagnose diseases of the mucous membrane of the mouth such as mouth cancer. This tool does not offer a definitive diagnosis. A medical or dental specialist will be able to provide a comprehensive assessment and establish a definitive diagnosis and, if needed, a treatment plan.
We are committed to the health and wellness of our patients. That is why we use high quality products and modern technologies.
The world is a fast-moving place and dental medicine is not immune to this evolution! In order to treat our patients in an appropriate and professional manner, we stay up to date with continuing education courses.
